Adam Broughton is a conductor, instrumentalist and music educator based in Southern England. Over the last fourteen years, he has formed and developed a number of leading youth ensembles, conducting in some of the finest musical venues in the UK and abroad, and worked with various adult groups, including wind bands, orchestras and choirs.
In recent years, Adam has gained a reputation as specialist conductor of wind and percussion ensembles, championing original, contemporary music for these groups. Along with his Directorship of the Linden Wind Orchestra, he is also Director of the highly regarded Hampshire County Youth Wind Ensemble and the Romsey Youth Concert Band, regularly touring abroad. In 2012 he founded the Hampshire Percussion Ensemble.
Adam enjoys a wide-ranging playing career, which includes performing and recording on percussion and trumpet with orchestras, bands and choirs, as well as world music groups and chamber ensembles.
Adam regularly composes and arranges for a variety of ensembles. His 2016 work, Dickens’ Dream: A Suite for Wind Band was premiered by the Hampshire County Youth Wind Ensemble in March 2016.
As a teacher, Adam leads the percussion and World Music teams for Hampshire Music Service and is visiting teacher of Orchestral Percussion for the prestigious Hampshire Specialist Music Course at Peter Symonds College in Winchester.
In January 2017 Adam joined Linden Wind Orchestra as Director of Music, working alongside Matthew Scott Rogers.
